MODERN FUEL ARTIST-RUN CENTRE is now accepting applications for a unique and dynamic summer job opportunity in the field of contemporary art!

As the Co-ordinator of Archival Promotion and Dissemination (CAPD) for Modern Fuel’s website and its 30th Anniversary exhibition catalogue, the selected applicant will work full-time hours for 8 weeks.

Start date: Tuesday July 8th 2008
End date: Saturday August 30th 2008

Annual General Meeting

Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2007-2008 on Sunday June 15th 2008 at 3pm here in the Gallery (21A Queen St.). This meeting is open to all members in good standing. An agenda for the meeting will be sent out to all members within the next couple of weeks.

Show Your Shorts

Back by popular demand, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre will once again host the popular Show Your Shorts Video Festival on Friday June 6th 2008. The screening, beginning at 7:30pm in the Modern Fuel Gallery (21A Queen St.), will feature a number of short films created by people from, or with ties to, Kingston's Queer community. Please don't forget to wear your shorts if you got 'em!

In conjunction with its current exhibition One Dimensional Space, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre is holding a panel presentation and book launch addressing the history of artist-run culture and its forms of organization, featuring authors Vincent Bonin, Clive Robertson, and Robert Labossière. One Dimensional Space continues at Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre until June 7th.

Carla Henderson, Modern Fuel's NMW Coordinator, and Troy Leaman, Modern Fuel Board Member and NMW Committee Chair, invite members to attend a meeting to discuss, amongst other things: what the membership wants to see from the NMW, priorities for the NMW for the coming year, possible funding sources, and potential opportunities for the NMW to collaborate with Modern Fuel gallery exhibitions.
