Soul Shakedown: Dias de los Muertos

SoulShakedown parties aim to bring the best in rare dance grooves from funk, soul to Latin, Brazilian, Pan-African, Arabic, Asian Dub, Bhangra and more. The night will start with a downtempo lounge from 9-10 and then will be dance heavy thereafter.

Tickets

$8 in advance (available at Brians Record Optiona and QCRED:343 JDUC)
$10 at the door

The party also raises funds for organizations doing social justice work and groups that challenge the status quo of neoliberal capitalism and colonization. We strive to construct a safe space where diverse peoples can shake it out and get away from the same old music and pub scene. The funds for this concert are supporting the Queen's Coalition Against Racial and Ethnic Discrimination. The organization is doing some amazing, grass-roots organizing to help manage the seriously reactionary climate that exists on the Campus of Queen's University. Not only are there regular racist incidents on the campus, which actually go so far as to threaten the physical well-being of othered people, but the entire academic structure of the university is racist. Its social composition comes out of a white, settler protestant elite tradition. It is not that those described are inherently racist, but that they come out of a racist history that is alive and well and has to be challenged vigorously in material and ideological ways.

People in QCRED are doing amazing organizing and need to be supported by us all. If you don't know about it make sure you learn. Come on out and party with us and for QCRED.

Let your host DJs Fictitious Commodity, Redfoot and DJ E take you on a journey through the best the world has to offer in dance music.
