Thanks to all who came out to the Annual General Meeting for 2007-2008. It was a very efficient meeting and the minutes from the meeting will be available soon for those who could not be in attendance. If you have any questions about the meeting, the Committee reports or the 2007-2010 strategic plan, please let us know.
Congratulations to the 2008 - 2009 Board of Directors for Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre. These folks were voted in at the AGM held June 15th 2008.

This summer, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre plans to screen a series of short video works in a public space in Kingston, Ontario. This is an open call. Please submit your short videos (up to a maximum length of 15 minutes) on NTSC DVD or MiniDV, along with an artist’s statement and CV. Modern Fuel is an equal opportunity video projector. Applications and proposals will be accepted until June 20th, 2008.

MODERN FUEL ARTIST-RUN CENTRE is now accepting applications for a unique and dynamic summer job opportunity in the field of contemporary art!
As the Co-ordinator of Archival Promotion and Dissemination (CAPD) for Modern Fuel’s website and its 30th Anniversary exhibition catalogue, the selected applicant will work full-time hours for 8 weeks.
Start date: Tuesday July 8th 2008
End date: Saturday August 30th 2008

10th Regional Juried Exhibition
14 June - 19 July 2008
The curatorial premise for this group exhibition is to reflect the wide-ranging practices of artists in the region and to provide a forum in which to compare artistic modalities from one year to the next. Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre invites artists to submit works produced in visual and time-based disciplines: painting, sculpture, printmaking, video, installation, sound, etc..

We are currently seeking submissions for 2008-09 exhibitions of innovative, contemporary artwork in any visual media. Emerging artists are welcome. Artist fees are paid. March 28 lunch -- “How to put Kingston on the cultural map.”
To help create an awareness of the need for a cultural policy, and to generate discussion, I am organising a special luncheon on Friday, March 28 at the Confederation Place Hotel. William D. (Bill) Poole, the Executive Director of the Centre for Cultural Management will be the speaker. His topic is “Putting Kingston of the Cultural Map.” Look up Bill and the Centre on the web to learn more. This event is being sponsored by both the Kingston Arts Council and KEDCO.
