Modern Fuel Welcomes New Media Workspace Coordinator!

Modern Fuel is pleased to welcome Maayke Schurer as our New Media Workspace Coordinator (NMWC). As our New Media Workspace Coordinator, Maayke will be responsible for the development of Modern Fuel’s digital equipment, archives and computer systems. In so doing, she will ultimately attempt to provide Kingston’s community organizations with resources and support by producing advanced video production and post-production services.

In her work, she specifically focuses on environmental issues that are expressed through magic realistic nature documentaries. Subsequent to graduating from Queen’s University in Fine Art as well as Biology and the Glasgow School of Art in Glasgow, UK with a Master’s of Fine Art, Maayke has exhibited her work internationally. Some of these exhibition locations include: London, Glasgow, Toronto, Berlin and the Netherlands. Maayke has also exhibited her work at Modern Fuel Artist-Run Center on multiple occasions. We are very excited to have her back at Modern Fuel to promote and fully establish our New Media Workspace within the Kingston community.
