Next Policy Matters Reading Group Session: Thurs, Feb 15 at 8pm

Next Session: 8:00pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Modern Fuel

*** Note that it now begins at 8pm ***

For our next reading group session we have decided to read the first 4 pages of Chapter 2 of Policy Matters (pages 26-29), as well as the article "The Hard Truth about Reconciliation" by Ossie Michelin from a recent issue of Canadian Art (the article can be found online here). These two short readings consider the relation between arts administration and social movements, with Michelin's text offering a look at similar issues addressed by Policy Matters, but from the perspective of Indigenous arts workers.

As always, if you would like to participate but have not picked up your copy of Policy Matters yet, please come by the gallery anytime during gallery hours to grab a copy!

Thanks to a generous donation by Clive Robertson of two-dozen copies of his book Policy Matters: Administrations of Art and Culture, all participants will be loaned a copy while participating in the reading group. This will be a great opportunity to critically reflect on artist-run culture and its often unseen administrative side, while discussing ways of decolonizing the gallery and improving access for marginalized and racialized communities.

If you would like to participate in the reading group please email with the subject "Policy Matters Reading Group" or stop by the gallery anytime during gallery hours and let us know!
