  • 17th Annual Juried Exhibition: Call for Submissions

    CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Modern Fuel's 17th Annual Juried Members' Exhibition will be presented at Modern Fuel from 27 June – 8 August 2015.  Submission Deadline: 1 June, 2015. 

  • The Periphery: a conversation between Lois Klassen, Laura Murray and Kevin Rodgers

    Modern Fuel, in partnership with Fillip, presents a special evening of reading and conversation.

    The Periphery, will feature feature Lois Klassen, Laura Murray and Kevin Rodgers. Klassen will read from her article Arriving at Nowhere: Reflecting on Chris Kraus’s Radical Localism, to be published in Fillip 20. Laura Murray will offer a response to Klassen's reading. Concluding will be a conversation between Klassen, Murray and Rodgers.

  • Show and Tell with Visiting Artist Julia Dault

    Modern Fuel in conjunction with Queen's University's BFA Program, welcomes Koerner Artist in Residence Julia Dault as our special guest for our popular Show and Tell event. Come show your finished work or work-in-progress and receive feedback from fellow artists in the community.   • Media Arts Residency: Jane Kirby and David Parker

    In conjunction with the Culture Development Fund (Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport), Modern Fuel is pleased to announce an extensive media artists-in-residence featuring collaborative duo Jane Kirby and David Parker. Selected from a submissions call in late 2014, Kirby and Parker's echolocation will inaugurate our new flexible Workspace (formerly the NMW) at Modern Fuel.

  • Workshop with Adrian Göllner: Demystifying the Public Art Process

    Modern Fuel is pleased to have Adrian Göllner lead this extensive workshop on Demystifying the Public Art Process. 
    Time: 1pm. Duration: approximately 3 hours. 
    Price: Modern Fuel members and students: $10; General Admission: $15

  • EXHIBITION ASSISTANCE

    Every year Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre is a Recommender for the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) Exhibition Assistance Awards. The program provides grants of $500 to $1,500 to assist individual artists with costs related to presenting their work for an exhibition.

  • Modern Fuel Is Moving!

    After years of planning and months of sorting and packing, Modern Fuel has relocated to the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning. At this point we're unpacking and getting the galleries ready for relaunch on January 17th.  This is an exciting time for Modern Fuel. We are eager to welcome our membership, artists and the community at large to our new space and the first exhibitions: Jennifer Dorner and David Poolman's The Old View From Nowhere, and Nancy Douglas’ Murphys in Griffintown.

  • ORANGE CHAIR CAMPAIGN

    Modern Fuel presents its annual Members’ Show and Sale from November 15 – December 5, 2014. Part exhibition and part fundraiser, the annual showcase of Members’ work in a range of artistic media is always a highly anticipated event. Funds raised are split 50/50 with artists. This will be the final exhibition at 21 Queen Street for the non-profit Gallery as it prepares to move to the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning in the coming weeks.

  • Call for Submissions: Members Show and Sale

    THIS WINTER LIGHT

    Modern Fuel is seeking submissions for our Annual Members’ Show and Sale. This year's exhibition is called This Winter Light and will be held from November 15 to December 13 at Modern Fuel, with the Opening Reception on Saturday, November 15, from 7-9pm.
     
    Deadline: November 1, 5pm.
