    Do you desire some David Sedaris, or perhaps Alice Munro or Thomas Pynchon? Perhaps something more obscure? Lyric and Longer Poems? How about some art catalogues, or TV series? The Book of Lies, or Aquarium Fishes in Color? Whether you are seeing something rare, or something for pleasure by the lakeside, or for your own research and practice, our annual book sale will satisfy. 

    Did you miss our Book Sale on at Princess St? We now have MORE in the lobby of Modern Fuel for your perusal! 

    All proceeds go towards our relocation and programming. 

  • Show and Tell Critiques with Jacqueline Hoang Nguyen

    In the summer of 2013, Jacqueline Hoang Nguyen presented her popular video 1967: A People Kind of Place as part of our Square Pegs screenings. Now join her for this unique Show and Tell critique session at Modern Fuel on January 29th, at 7pm. Artists can present their work for feedback and conversation in a welcoming and comfortable environment. 

    Jacqueline Hoang Nguyen is the 2013-14 Koerner Artist in Residence at Queen's University. 

  • Winter Exhibition Assistance Grants

    Every year Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre is a Recommender for the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) Exhibition Assistance Awards. The program provides grants of $500 to $1,500 to assist individual artists with costs related to presenting their work for an exhibition.

  • Call for Submissions: Members' Show and Sale

    Submission Call for participation in our Annual Members’ Show and Sale. This exciting exhibition will be held from December 6th to December 21st at Modern Fuel, with the Opening Reception on Friday, December 6th, from 7-10pm.
     
    Deadline: November 16th, 5pm.

  • Square Pegs VI: Call for Submissions

    Square Pegs is an annual outdoor free-to-attend screening of experimental video art from Canadian artists organized and curated by Modern Fuel, a not-for-profit artist-run centre in Kingston, Ontario. This year will be our sixth screening and we plan on making it the best yet.

  • Exhibition Assistance Grants

If you have a confirmed upcoming exhibition, and if your residence falls within zone 4 of the OAC's list of Exhibition Assistance Recommenders, please send us your application for review before the July 15th Deadline.   

  • Call for High Octane Video Production Residency 2013

    Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre is currently accepting applications for a High Octane Video Production Residency, running from July 25-August 8, 2013. The residency includes complete use of the New Media Workspace's audio, video, lighting, and editing equipment with the goal of creating a short video work of no more than fifteen minutes. In addition, the successful applicant will have access to the New Media Workspace's editing resources for the week following the Production Residency.

  • 15th Annual Regional Juried Exhibition: Call for Submissions

    CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Modern Fuel's 15th Annual Regional Juried Exhibition will be presented at Modern Fuel from 29 June – 10 August 2013. Opening reception 29 June at 7pm. Submission Deadline: 1 June, 2013. Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre invites artists to submit works produced in visual and time-based disciplines such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, video, installation, and sound for our annual juried members’ exhibition.
