  • Public Recordings Performance Projects

    Modern Fuel is pleased to host Public Recordings Performance Projects for their upcoming performance series 'what we are saying: the radical possibility of a leaderless togetherness,' which will run from October 4-6 (8pm each day) in our Main Gallery. 

    An intimate and expansive composition of sound and movement, what we are saying is a performance that presents the conditions of bare utterance. 

  • Call for Participants: Rebecca Anweiler Animal/Séance

    Rebecca Anweiler will be exhibiting her piece Animal/Séance in the State of Flux in July 2017. For this work, she is hoping to collect information from people who wish to provide subjects for an 'experiment' on animal telepathic communication.

  • Your Own Grad School: Call for Participants

    From September 1 to October 1, 2016, Modern Fuel will be hosting the fourth iteration of Your Own Grad School. We are currently seeking local artists and members of Modern Fuel who would like to become involved in this year's activities: reading groups, art critiques and public presentations. Your Own Grad School will be held in the State of Flux Gallery, and is a great chance to meet and learn from other artists in our area.

  • Call for Submissions: 18th Annual Juried Members' Exhibition

    Submissions Due: August 20, 2016

    Modern Fuel is accepting submissions for our 18th Annual Juried Members’ Exhibition, which will run from October 15 to November 19, 2016, in our State of Flux Gallery. We invite artists to submit works produced in visual and timebased disciplines such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, video, installation and sound. We also welcome proposals for performances, interventions and public projects to be scheduled during the run of the exhibition. 

  • Tree House Project

    Modern Fuel is pleased to participate in the Crazy Dames Exhibition and Workshop Series organized by Spark Box Studios. Please join us on Tuesday, June 14 at 6 pm, for an artist talk and workshop lead by multi-disciplinary artist Jennie Suddick, in conjunction with The Tree House Project and Spark Box Studios.

  • Annual General Meeting

    AGM: Thursday, June 30 at 7pm

    We are excited to announce that our 2016 Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 7pm. If you are not a current member, the AGM is a great time to join or renew your membership, as only members in good standing will be able to vote at the meeting. The meeting will be approximately one hour, with food, refreshment and great conversation!

  • Book Sale Fundraiser

    Call for Used Books

    Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre is gratefully accepting used books, DVDs and CDs for its 5th Annual Book Sale Fundraiser. This is an important event for the centre, raising funds for programming and operations throughout the year. Our 2016 Fundraiser will be at Skeleton Park Arts Festival on the weekend of June 25 and 26, so stop by and show your support!

    We are accepting books on an ongoing basis up until the Fundraiser. Please drop off donations to Modern Fuel located at the Tett Centre, Suite 305, 370 King St W.

    Skeleton Park Arts Festival will be celebrating 11 years of music, art and community! This year Modern Fuel is partnering with the Skeleton Park Arts Festival to organize the Artisan Fair running Jue 25th and 26th.
