Step to the Tett

After 35 years, Modern Fuel had outgrown it's home at 21 Queen Street, and in December 2014 relocated to the Tett Centre. Long in development and planning, the relocation substantially improved health and safety concerns as well as accessibility issues. In addition to improved facility conditions, it offers increased visibility, and more active collaborative opportunities: a communal space for artists and gallery members, the public and school groups. The Tett Centre is home to eight cultural organizations, eight individual artists’ studios, a cafe (upcoming), and a variety of public rental spaces including a restored Malting Tower, rehearsal hall, and multipurpose room. Adjacent to Queen’s University’s new Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, the Tett Centre promises to be an exciting arts hub on the waterfront.

In this new location, Modern Fuel has two similar gallery spaces, an open-concept office, and improved storage for the Nan Yeomans Resource Library. A separate Workspace with new equipment offers editing suites with independent user access.

Thank you to those who helped us Step to the Tett!

Thanks to our many contributors and generous grants from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Cultural Spaces, we reached 80% of our goal of $100,000. Funds raised continue to be directed towards initial fit-up costs such as interior walls, doors, sinks, electrical outlets, and necessary furnishings like track lighting, shelving, signage, and seating. If you would still like to contribute, please consider making a charitable donation to our Step to the Tett campaign by donating online or send a cheque to Modern Fuel.  Please indicate the purpose of your gift by including "Step to the Tett" in the donation form or memo line.
