Vapours Experimental Music Concert Series: Cantenac Dagar and Fort Crèvecœur

Saturday, March 28, 2015

NOTE: Audio excerpts of the performances can be found on our soundcloud page.

On Friday, April 17th, Modern Fuel is very pleased to welcome into our space two unique performers from France: Cantenac Dagar and Fort Crèvecœur. After starting their North American tour at the La Casa del Popolo (Montreal), they'll be the first performers to christen our new space in sound. It will be awesome. It will be awesome.

Cantenac Dagar is an instrumental duet from France (banjo, cassette player, bells, human beatbox). Sounds are created with little equipment by two artists whose live practice is essentially driven by the place and the present moment. The anonymous duet combines influences from drone/ambiant, soundtracks for contemporary dancers, beatboxing and improvised-noise. They have toured extensively across Europe, including the Resonances Festival (Poland) and have opened for tUnE-yArDs. /

FORT CRÈVECŒUR No improvisation! Silence, banjo, rough sound poetry.  FC  delivers all kinds of weird and ultra-poetic sounds. His deconstructed process acts toward very short tracks (40 scd to 2 min) in a mix of a banjo played with a bow, melodica, metronome and whatever objects he found… Totally acoustic, his performances have a 15min duration.

Admission: $6 for MF Members, $8 General Public

Doors at 8:30. Show begins at 9pm.

Modern Fuel would especially like to thank CFRC and the Canada Council for the Arts.
