Media and Programming Coordinator Job Call

We are currently accepting applications from current post-secondary students for a Media and Programming Coordinator position. Applications are due May 6, 2017. 


Call: Media and Programming Coordinator

HOURS: 30 hours per week (12:00 - 5:00 PM Tuesday – Saturday, some evenings required)

DURATION: May 16th, 2017- August 26th, 2017

LOCATION: Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre at the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning

WAGE: $14.00 / hour



Located at the the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre is offering an exciting opportunity for an emerging artist, curator, arts administrator or cultural worker to expand their skills and gain valuable experience. Under the direction of the Artistic and Operations Directors, the Media and Programming Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the new media lab, and assist with the planning and execution of our summer video art residency and screening series program, as well as regular gallery operations.

Tasks and Responsibilities

- Greet and welcome visitors to the gallery and new media lab, introduce new members and assist with orientation

- Provide gallery tours when needed on an ongoing basis to members and the public

- Daily gallery duties including opening and closing, monitoring visitors, issuing memberships, answering phones and public inquiries alongside the co-directors

- Develop and deliver social media, outreach and promotional content

- Assist with membership and volunteer recruitment and database management

- Facilitate video and photo documentation of gallery and programming activities

- Maintain and improve the Modern Fuel digital and physical archives and policies, including updating the Flickr and Vimeo accounts with new material

- Maintain and oversee the rentals of project tools, space and equipment (including hardware and software)

- Assist with coordination of gallery and media workspace programming


- Some post-secondary educational background in Fine Arts, Art History, Arts Administration, Film, Museum Studies or other similar programs (can be currently completing degree)

- A strong knowledge of and passion for contemporary arts practices in Canada

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

- Skills and experience delivering exceptional customer service in a public setting

- Experience with Mac computer systems and basic office programs including database software, email, spreadsheets and word processing programs

- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud/ Creative Suite as well as working knowledge of photo and video editing software

- Knowledge and experience with video and photo recording equipment

- Knowledge and experience using social networking tools such as Twitter and Facebook

- Adaptability, time management, initiative, positive attitude, and attention to detail are desired characteristics

- Bilingualism in both official languages is definitely an asset, but not required for the position

- Certifications in Smart Serve, First Aid/CPR are highly desired
