  • Annie Dunning: Sapsucker Sounds

    Saturday, March 8, 2014 to Saturday, April 19, 2014

Artist Annie Dunning takes a playful approach to nature and mystery. A curiosity for the overlooked and unconsidered leads her to deal with mostly common items as subject matter. With an aesthetic that is influenced by craft and DIY style, Dunning explores what greater possibilities common subjects might hold if released from their expected roles. In her new exhibition Sapsucker Sounds, an installation of objects and interactive sound sculptures offers an opportunity to experience sound generated by a conflation of human and woodpecker culture.

  • Jeff Barbeau: Minor Works

    Saturday, January 11, 2014 to Saturday, February 22, 2014

Photography is perhaps the most popular method these days for producing more and more images. Surely one has found oneself included in an image this way, or have subjected others to the process. We have probably all gotten carried away in this regard. Indeed, it has come to the point where it feels intolerable to let any given experience pass without some documentation. One must now testify to it having been memorable. We do what we can.

  • Hannah Claus: cloudscape

    Saturday, January 11, 2014 to Saturday, February 22, 2014

In her new exhibition cloudscape, Montreal-based artist Hannah Claus presents a sculptural installation both simple and complex. Enveloping the gallery space like a slow moving fog, thousands of vellum ovals are methodically arranged in amorphous formations. Claus' process driven practice reflects upon accumulation and time, and her works are imbued with references to earthly elements: water, stone and sky.

  • Dariusz Krzeminski: Settlement

    Saturday, August 24, 2013 to Saturday, October 5, 2013

The tensions between abstraction and representation are at the forefront of this exhibition of new paintings by Toronto-based artist Dariusz Krzeminski titled Settlement.  Familiar motifs such as still lifes and landscape are slowly turned upside-down, resulting in an uneasy space between enclosure and structural instability, and the demands of the painting process.

  • Erika Olson: Shelf Life

    Saturday, August 24, 2013 to Saturday, October 5, 2013

In Shelf Life, Kingston-based artist Erika Olson explores the playful and potent space between still-life painting and expiration. With a careful hand and sharp eye, Olson chronicles everyday life, including what is traditionally thought of as women's work: food preparation, cooking utensils and cleaning products. Although Olson’s work is primarily expressive in its aesthetic, awareness of inequity runs through her examination of food and appetite.
