QUEENS STUDENTS! INTERN AT MODERN FUEL

Modern Fuel offers a half credit student internship each semester in collaboration with Queens University for students in Art History, Fine Art (ARTH 395) and Film Studies (FILM 395). Internships provide a focused opportunity for students to experience multiple facets of the nonprofit contemporary arts environment and offer a practical environment in which students can undertake research and curatorial activities. Students are required to write a report about their experience and are evaluated jointly by the employer and a faculty member from their department.

MODERN FUEL ARTIST-RUN CENTRE is now accepting applications for a summer Archive Assistant position.

Note: This position is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Culture Summer Experience Program. The position is only open to students currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary institutions or within six months of graduation, who have reached the minimum age of 15 years and not yet reached the age of 25 years on the first day of employment.

MODERN FUEL ARTIST-RUN CENTRE is now accepting applications for New Media Workspace Coordinator, a unique and dynamic summer job opportunity in the field of contemporary art and new media!

As the New Media Workspace Coordinator (NMWC) for Modern Fuel, the selected applicant will work 30 hours per week for 13 weeks from May 31 to the end of August 2011.

The Art Cards are coming!

We are very excited about the Art Cards we are producing as our main fundraiser this year, they will be unveiled November 26th at a launch party. We received overwhelming community support for the cards and had almost three times the number of image submissions as spaces on cards. It is wonderful to have so much enthusiasm for the project however it unfortunately also means that we were unable to give every application a spot in the deck. We thank you all for submitting images.

Lots of cleaning, sorting junk and painting. A great way to meet people involved at Modern Fuel
Be prepared to get dirty!

Mayworks Installation - April 28th-30th, 12-5pm
Help hang work, set up lighting and put titles on the wall

Solid Gold Raffle Extended!

As an extended part of our Solid Gold Fundraiser, we are holding a raffle of 11 records uniquely altered by some of our member artists. Raffle tickets are each $3 or 2 for $5. The Sitters in Kingston

For an upcoming exhibition with Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre (Feb. 27 - Apr. 3, 2010), the artist Élène Tremblay requires several volunteers to pose for photographs for a Kingston installment of her ongoing photographic series Les assis / The Sitters. The individuals portrayed in the series appear to have dropped out of the ongoing rush of everyday life.
