Post-Mortem Survey for Making Art Work 2020-21

Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre welcomes emerging and mid-career local, national, and international artists, from diverse cultural communities, working in all mediums to submit to our Annual Call for Submissions. Exhibition proposals chosen will go on display in 2024. 

 

Modern Fuel facilitates the presentation, interpretation, and production of visual and time-based arts. Our exhibitions engage with an array of approaches to contemporary aesthetics, and cover a broad scope of conceptual, formal, socio-political and cultural questions. We welcome proposals for solo and group exhibitions, as well as performances, curatorial projects, and collaborations. See our Past Exhibitions at modernfuel.org/past. 

 

The deadline of submissions is March 1st 2023. Successful applicants will be notified by Modern Fuel in the summer. Application materials will be kept on file for one year. 

 

Applications will be assessed by a jury of staff, board directors, and community members. Members of the jury will remain anonymous. Please note that applications for exhibitions (both solo and group) may be considered for inclusion in group exhibitions that are curated by our Directors and Programming Committee. 

 

Submission packages should include:

 

1. Exhibition proposal (including Exhibition Title) (500 words max.)


2. Artist's / Curator's Statement (300 words max.)

3. Bio (150 words max. per bio)

4. CV (5 pages max.)

5. 
Supporting documentation (ie. images/links to videos of the works, descriptions of the works, etc.)

6. 
Any technical requirements 


7. Programming ideas (ie. lectures, workshops, artist talks, etc.) (optional) 



8. Links to social media and/or website if applicable
