Application Deadline: June 24th, 2022
Modern Fuel is currently accepting applications for our summer shared studio residency program, LONG DAYS! Over the course of a looooooong summer month (August 1 - August 31), Modern Fuel will repurpose its two galleries and New Media Workspace into shared studio space for 3-5 local artists and/or arts workers (curators, writers). Participants must be physically located in the Kingston area and able to work during the regular gallery hours (Tuesday to Saturday, 12 PM- 5PM EST). Please note that Modern Fuel is unable to provide travel or accommodations for out-of-town artists.
In offering a creative environment in a physical space that is large enough for artists/art workers to work alongside one another while maintaining a safe distance, Modern Fuel hopes to facilitate the development of informal relationships that can be vital to artistic communities. Participants are expected to adhere to any standing pandemic regulations in place by the province at the time of the residency. Participants are not expected to produce finished work, however, they will be expected to perform a public artist talk about their work during the residency at the end of the program.
Successful applicants will receive the following:
-
Access to a personal section of the gallery to use as studio space; the New Media Workspace and all equipment; as well as the Nan Yeoman’s Resource Library, Tuesday to Saturday 1200h to 1700h
-
A year-long general membership to Modern Fuel
-
A $100 stipend to be used however you like
-
Optional feedback sessions with the Executive Director, and/or select members of the Board of Directors, and other arts professionals by appointment
-
Promotional support for future exhibitions or events that result from the residency, where possible
See the buttons below for application guidelines, criteria, and the downloadable application form.
