About the Event
Sarah J, also known as Chas, is an emerging visual artist who uses many mediums and forms of self expression. She is a passionate advocate for Sexual Assault Victims, who were born into the cycle of domestic violence, addiction and neglect. Through her art and activism, she sheds light onto the splits caused from such events, giving voice to herself and those re-traumatized by being caught in the myriad bureaucracies and injustices of the mental health system, justice and correctional systems.
Join Chas at our upcoming Roundtable Discussion series on Thursday February 18 at 7PM to discuss Art as an outlet for trauma. Participants will be invited to share as much or as little as they want – everyone should come with an open mind and be willing to listen and think.
In the round table discussion series, a local artist, arts administrator, or arts academic brings forward a topic or burning question they want to discuss. They speak for 5 - 10 minutes to introduce the subject, and the rest of the session is an open conversation. Roundtables are non-hierarchical gatherings of artists and creatives to share with one another.
*Please note, TW: there will be discussions of trauma. Attendees may leave the zoom call at any point.
