Post-Mortem Survey for Making Art Work 2020-21
Thank you for participating in the Making Art Work professional development workshop series co-presented by Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre, Union Gallery, and Agnes Etherington Art Centre. We are looking for feedback from participants of the program to inform future professional development programs. The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. Your answers will be anonymous. Thank you for your time!

Volunteer at Modern Fuel
Our volunteers are integral to the operations at Modern Fuel. We provide professional development opportunities for those looking to pursue a career in the arts. From helping with our install/deinstall periods, to being a spokesperson for Modern Fuel at our outreach events, we are able to provide diverse and exciting experiences for our volunteers. Volunteer positions are open to everyone.

Docent Program
The docent program is our largest volunteer section at Modern Fuel. Modern Fuel’s docents greet visitors at the gallery and guide them through the exhibitions. The structure of the docent program will consist of four 2 hour shifts when exhibitions are on display where the docent will sit in our gallery, offer insight into the exhibitions, and offer tours through the space. Volunteers must be comfortable speaking to individuals and groups about art.
Gallery Preparation for Exhibitions
Our exhibitions run for 7 weeks with a two week turn over period during which we need help preparing the gallery space for the next exhibitions including patching and painting the walls. Volunteers should be comfortable with physical labour and detail-oriented tasks.
Special Events
We host opening receptions and other events approximately every two months, at which we need volunteers to help with bar and food service, guest check-in, and photography. Volunteers for bar service must have a valid Ontario Smart Serve card. Photography volunteers should have some experience with digital photography.
Outreach and Fundraising Events
Modern Fuel regularly participates in city-wide cultural events, such as the Skeleton Park Arts Festival and Princess Street Promenade, as well as occasional public fundraising events. Volunteers should be comfortable speaking to individuals and groups about Modern Fuel, and spending several hours outdoors.
